WHY TIM BURTON'S 'JURASSIC PARK' NEVER HAPPENED

You wouldn't say it, but Tim Burton ( Beetlejuice , Batman ) was once in the running to direct Jurassic Park instead of Steven Spielberg . So the film landscape could have looked very different these days, but why did it never happen?

When Michael Crichton released his book Jurassic Park in 1990 , every studio in Hollywood almost immediately wanted the movie rights. One of the studios was, of course, Warner Bros. The studio intended to buy the rights and have Tim Burton direct the film as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the rights had already ended up with Universal and Steven Spielberg. So it was simply a case of first come, first served. James Cameron was also planning to buy the rights himself, but he was too late.

Career

Tim Burton's career has of course not deteriorated after the missed opportunity. He has made numerous more successful films such as Planet of the Apes , Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd . Currently the sequel to Beetlejuice is on his agenda and he is busy with the second season of Wednesday on Netflix.

Batman

Burton is of course also known for his 'Batman' movies with Michael Keaton. This summer, this version of The Dark Knight returns to the silver screen after 30 years in DC's The Flash .
