The Most Ridiculous Grogu Theory Is Very Likely After The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7

The Mandalorian season 3 finale may prove an outlandish Grogu theory true. The Mandalorian season 3, episode 7 “Chapter 23 – The Spies” has forced its heroes into the depths of Mandalore, where they were ambushed by Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his new and improved beskar-protected troopers. Now that Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) has been taken prisoner, Grogu finds himself lost in the caves along with the other surviving Mandalorians, most likely plotting a way to get Din back. After all, Grogu will always choose to save Din, as has been proven time and time again. But Gideon won’t go down without a fight.

The question that remains is how Grogu will try to save Din, and what the Mandalorians can do to best Moff Gideon’s forces. This might be where Grogu’s Force-abilities come back into the story, more prominently than ever before, as well as one of the season’s most earth-shattering reveals. There is one piece of Mandalorian culture that Moff Gideon hasn’t laid claim to yet, one that only a handful of characters currently know about but could definitely utilize in the upcoming finale. What if Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) isn’t the one who ends up riding the Mythosaur?

The Mandalorian Has Stressed Grogu's Affinity For Animals

The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett have both emphasized Grogu’s affinity for taming beasts. This is a particular Force-ability that allows some Jedi and other Force-sensitives to connect with animals on a deeper level, often to calm them down or even to fight alongside them. When Grogu used this ability in The Book of Boba Fett to pacify Boba’s rancor, it was clearly meant to showcase that this was one of his main talents and that it would come to play a larger role in the story later down the line.

It would be interesting to see that scene with the rancor paralleled in The Mandalorian’s season 3 finale, especially since audiences have rightly claimed that Grogu’s story in Boba Fett has felt disconnected from the rest of his journey in The Mandalorian season 3. And though Bo-Katan hasn’t told Grogu about the Mythosaur directly, he was there when Din Djarin nearly drowned in the Living Waters, and Bo dove in to save him. It’s entirely plausible that Grogu sensed the Mythosaur’s presence when Bo-Katan first spotted it – perhaps it even called out to Grogu through the Force in some way, just as the purrgil reached out to Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels.

Grogu Is Now Lost In Mandalore's Caves

Grogu, like the other Mandalorians, is now lost in the vast caverns beneath Mandalore’s surface. Given all the pandemonium, it’s not far-fetched to assume that the group may get separated from one another. And, now that Grogu has received his IG-12 mecha armor in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 7, it would be easy enough for him to go off on his own, as he is wont to do anyway. Grogu has been down to the Living Waters, he knows the way – Bo-Katan even makes a point of saying that he’s a good navigator in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2 “Chapter 18 – The Mines of Mandalore.”

Though Bo-Katan is still the most likely candidate to ride the Mythosaur, as she’s being set up as Mandalore’s ruler again now that she has the Darksaber, Grogu being the one to actually ride the Mythosaur has, miraculously, become a distinct possibility. It would certainly provide a memorable visual. Grogu’s affinity for animals, his growing Force-powers, and his drive to save Din Djarin could all come into play in The Mandalorian’s season 3 finale, and the Mythosaur might be at the center of it all.
