“I can see I got complacent”: Daniel Radcliffe Hated His Own Acting in $934.5M Harry Potter Film After Gary Oldman’s Exit From the Franchise

Daniel Radcliffe is one of the most famous actors in the industry, someone we have watched growing up in front of us. Radcliffe grew up alongside us, starring as Harry Potter in the Harry Potter franchise, and received immense fame and respect from the industry and the fans for this. He also became one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood during this time, as the franchise was immensely successful.

But despite the billions of dollars the franchise brought and the millions he earned from it starring as the titular hero, Daniel Radcliffe might have a thing or two to say about the franchise as his entire childhood was spent playing the same character. During an interview, The Lost City actor shared the difficulties he faced on the set and during the production of the films.

Daniel Radcliffe’s Acting Went Stale in the Harry Potter Movies

Daniel Radcliffe was cast in the Harry Potter franchise as the lead role of Harry Potter at a very young age, and the first movie started filming when Radcliffe was only 11 years old. The actor spent the better part of his teenage days and his early twenties starring in the same franchise, and though the franchise was immensely successful, the actor showed some troubles he faced acting the part. It is somewhat obvious that if someone plays the same role for decades, growth might get hindered as there would be not much to improvise, as was the case with the Harry Potter star.

In an interview with Playboy, Daniel Radcliffe opened up about his stalemate situation with his Harry Potter role and also claimed that his acting was not improving, and his actual emotions weren’t reaching all the fans and followers who watched the movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, especially after the exit of Gary Oldman from the franchise. Though it wasn’t long before Radcliffe was out of form, as he came back strong in the last two movies, Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Deathly Hallows – Part 2. These two movies were undoubtedly the best movies in the franchise, and especially the ending was a masterclass.

The Multi-Billion Dollar Franchise: Harry Potter

The Harry Potter movies were adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s famous fantasy book series and are one of the most fan-favorite franchises of all time. It consists of eight movies and with every being movie better than the last, the franchise has earned a total of more than $7.7 billion at the box office after its release worldwide on an estimated budget of $1.2 billion. The franchise ran for a decade, with the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone being released in 2001 and the last, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows  Part 2 in 2011.

Over time, the Harry Potter movies have received immense praise, with every movie being critically rated as one of the best, each movie ranked in the top three in the movies that were released that respective year, and winning numerous awards. Some of them include the Academy Awards, five times out of the twelve nominations, the Saturn Awards, the Art Directors Guild Awards, the BAFTA Awards, the BMI Film Music Award, and countless others.
