A 2007 image is going viral that shows actor Vanessa Hudgens meeting her ex-boyfriend Austin Butler’s current girlfriend, Kaia Gerber. Currently, Hudgens is 34, Butler is 31, and Gerber is 21. Hudgens met Gerber when she was only a little girl, and the former was already a fully grown woman. And it really puts the 10-year age gap that Butler and Gerber have into perspective. Hudgens and Butler dated for eight years and split up when he was filming his break-out role in Elvis.
When Butler snagged the role in Elvis and they were still a couple, Hudgens went on an American morning show and explained how she’d heard him singing along to Elvis in the car and then encouraged him to audition for the role. Butler went viral for repeating that story after they broke up but referring to Hudgens as a “friend”, not an ex-girlfriend. Neither Hudgens nor Butler has commented on the break-up, but there’s a video going viral of her walking past him at the Oscars, and neither acknowledges the other.
Butler and Gerber first sparked dating rumours in December 2021. She is a model and the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber. She also made headlines for dating Euphoria star Jacob Elordi. Coincidentally, Gerber’s ex Elordi is playing Elvis in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biopic, Priscilla. Butler and Gerber now are often seen walking the red carpet together. When Hudgens and Butler dated, her career eclipsed his; she was known for being part of the successful Disney High School Musical franchise that shot her into mega-stardom, and he was a working actor known for roles on the cancelled Carrie Diaries and Zoey 101.
